Entering data
Data is entered either from an electronic weather station or by hand.
Automatic
Electronic stations currently include the Lacrosse WS2300 and the Oregon Scientific WMR-928. Connect the station to your computer with a serial cable and ensure the settings in Preferences reflect the COM port and station type. Data should begin showing in the software within two minutes.
Manual
Manual data entry is also possible in SkyMet. If you have traditional weather instruments, you may wish to use this.
To enter data, click on the first of the four icons top left of the main screen or press F5. This will bring up the Manual Input Screen.
The software will insert the current date and time but this can be changed if you are entering readings after the event.
Data is recorded for both inside and outside temperature and humidity; for all other parameters only one set is recorded.
Pressure is entered as either the local or sea level reading. If you have entered a station elevation in the Preferences, it will calculate the difference for you, otherwise it will act as though the station is at sea level with both readings being the same.

A weather icon can be entered to record the weather conditions at the time. This can be chosen from a simple set of icons (Sunny, Overcast, Snowy etc) or the keen weather observer may prefer to use the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) standard weather symbols, available in two drop down lists when the 'Use ICAO Icons' box is ticked.
